Phone photos work. Use the original from your camera roll, not a screenshot or a photo saved from social media. Those come through much smaller than they look. Pick a horizontal shot for the month pages. Pinch or drag in the designer to put your pet where you want them.
If the designer flags a photo: it is measuring pixels against the space it has to fill. It is not judging your photo. Calendar pages are big, so even a camera shot can get flagged once it is enlarged to fill a full page. Use the largest original you have, or move that photo to a smaller frame. Then check the preview at full size. If it looks sharp there, it will print well. If the warning offers Scale image down, skip it (or Undo): it shrinks the photo and moves it down the page, onto the dates.
